The fiber optic splice protectors of the ANT Series find applications in nearly all sectors of fiber optic technology. They are used to protect connections in fiber optic joints, patch panels, racks, and cabinets. Their small size, hermetic sealing, and quick installation are the primary advantages of this solution. Excellent climatic and thermal properties predispose them for use in both indoor and outdoor environments. During the design stage, the main objectives were: complete protection of spliced fiber optics, small size after tightening, and short installation time. The final products are tested for compliance with the requirements specified in the TS 0338/96 Deutsche Telekom and EN 50411-3-3 European Standards. Produced heat-shrink splice protectors fully protect spliced fiber optics. They do not introduce additional optical power losses, protect against mechanical damage, contamination, and climatic factors.
The ANT Series is characterized by small external dimensions (L=30mm, H=3.2mm, W=1.2mm). The protector consists of an aluminum body with a thickness of 0.3mm and butyl rubber strips with a thickness of 0.3mm. This solution allows the protectors to be used only for protecting fibers with a coating of 250um or less. The butyl rubber strips have very good adhesion to many materials and low water solubility. The reinforcing aluminum body is made of high-quality aluminum tape. During the tightening of the protector, the fiber optic is tightly immersed in the filling mass between the spliced fiber and the aluminum body of the protector. This protector design eliminates the formation of air bubbles and prevents the occurrence of transverse and longitudinal stresses on the splice during the tightening process. Stresses significantly affect the increase in insertion and reflection losses of the connection. In extreme cases, they can lead to connection failure, necessitating the re-splicing procedure. The protector ensures durability and resistance to crushing, stretching, and puncturing.
