Telefonika Fiber Optic Cable
The Telefonika Z-XOTKtsd 144J cable features a multi-tube construction, where loose tubes are wrapped around a central strengthening rod made of FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) glass. In this specific case, there are 12 active tubes, each filled with 12 optical fibers, hence the designation 12x12.
The fiber optic cable includes mini-tubes with a diameter of 1.8 mm. Compared to a traditional tube with a diameter of 2.4 mm, the outer diameter of the cable has been reduced, resulting in beneficial effects on parameters such as minimum bending radius (reduced by 30%) and cable mass. Although the cable is only half as strong in tensile strength as the version with a traditional tube, the nearly double reduction in mass balances this out. The additional advantage of its low mass is simplified logistics, especially in terms of laying or blowing lightweight cables.
The cable can be used wherever resistance to atmospheric conditions is required: water, variable temperatures, and UV radiation. Its complete dielectricity allows for use near low, medium, and high voltage lines.
The Telefonika Z-XOTKtsd 144J / 1.8 fiber optic cable is primarily designed for installation in fiber optic ducts such as O32, O40, or possibly in primary sewage systems with O110 dimensions. Due to the lack of an external reinforcing braid and relatively low mass, it is ideal for blowing into cable ducts, but slightly less suitable for mechanical pulling into cable sewers. In practice, it is also used for installation in open trenching cable ducts, where the installation force will not exceed 1 kN.
