The Tele-fonika Z-XOTKtsd 12J cable features a multi-tube design, which means that loose tubes are wrapped around a central FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) strength member made of glass fiber. In this specific case, only one tube is filled with 12 optical fibers - hence the designation 1x12. The remaining tubes serve as cable fillers.
The fiber optic cable has a mini-tube with a diameter of 1.8 mm. Compared to a classic tube with a diameter of 2.4 mm, the outer diameter of the cable has been reduced, which positively affects parameters such as the minimum bending radius (reduced by 30%) and the cable's weight. Although the cable is half as strong in tensile strength as the version with a classic tube, the nearly double reduction in mass balances out this equation. An additional advantage of the lower mass is simplifying logistics, particularly in the ease of laying or blowing the lightweight cable.

The Tele-Fonika Z-XOTKtsd 12J / 1.8 fiber optic cable is primarily designed for installation in fiber optic ducts such as O32, O40, or possibly in primary sewer systems O110. Due to the lack of an external reinforcing braid and its relatively low weight, it is ideally suited for blowing into cable ducts, although somewhat less so for mechanical pulling into cable sewers. In practice, it is also used for installations in accessible cable sewers, where the installation force will not exceed 1 kN.
