Duplex Fiber Optic Patch Cords

Duplex Fiber Optic Patch Cords - Fast and Reliable Solution for Optical Networks

Duplex fiber optic patch cords are among the most commonly used cables in optical networks. They are optical connectors consisting of two fiber optic strands placed in a single jacket. They stand out for their high quality and resistance to electromagnetic interference, making them ideal for industrial and telecommunication network applications.

Types of Duplex Fiber Optic Patch Cords:

Duplex fiber optic patch cords come in several types, including single-mode (SM), multimode (MM), and macro-bend insensitive (LX). Single-mode patch cords are used in networks covering long distances, such as telecommunication networks, while multimode patch cords are commonly used in shorter-distance networks. Macro-bend insensitive patch cords are used in very long-distance networks, as they can transmit signals over large distances without signal loss.

Types of Fiber and Fiber Optics:

Duplex fiber optic patch cords are made from one of two types of optical fibers: single-mode or multimode. Single-mode fibers are smaller and have fewer cores than multimode fibers, meaning they can transmit signals over longer distances with less signal loss. Multimode fibers have more cores and are more flexible, making them more resistant to mechanical damage. Fiber optic patch cords can also be made from different types of optical fibers, such as single-mode (SM), multimode (MM), or polarization-maintaining (PM). Each type of optical fiber has its own optical properties, affecting the quality and throughput of the signal.

Differences Between Simplex and Duplex Patch Cords:

Simplex patch cords consist of only one fiber optic strand, while duplex patch cords consist of two. Simplex patch cords are typically used in applications where signals are transmitted in only one direction, such as in CCTV networks. Duplex patch cords, with their two fibers, are used for bidirectional communication where signals need to be sent and received simultaneously, making them suitable for most data communication applications
