SOC (Splice-On Connector), also known as fusion splice-on connector, is an alternative method for terminating fiber optic connectors. This method combines the best features of traditional fusion splicing using a fusion splicer (high quality connection) with the simplicity of operation and convenience of mechanical connectors. It finds wide application in FTTH networks. This type of connector can be terminated on fibers or directly on fiber optic cables with a diameter of up to 3mm using a fusion splicer and special holders. After termination, the entire splice is protected and concealed, similar to mechanical splices.
