Fast Ethernet Fiber-Ethernet Media Converter in a Metal Enclosure
The IMC-21A series is a line of modern media converters that enable signal conversion between 10/100BaseT(X) Ethernet networks and single- or multimode fiber optic networks using 100BaseFX, 10BaseT, or 10BaseFL standards. These devices feature a wide operating temperature range (-10°C to +60°C for the standard version and -40°C to +75°C for the -T version), compact dimensions (30 x 125 x 79 mm), and DIN rail mounting options. The sturdy metal enclosure and the availability of a version designed for extended temperature ranges make these media converters ideal for use in demanding industrial environments, including factory floors and devices operating in subzero temperatures.
IMC-21A media converters can be powered by a DC voltage source ranging from 12 to 48 V, offering great flexibility in installation locations.
Link Fault Pass-Through
The IMC-21, IMC-21A, and IMC-101 series media converters are equipped with a Link Fault Pass-Through mechanism. This feature automatically disables the connection on the opposite side of the converter if the link is lost on one side. This ensures that information about the failure is immediately propagated to the end devices, preventing unnecessary attempts to establish a connection through the failed path. Once the issue is resolved, the link is automatically re-established. Without this mechanism, devices would continue trying to communicate over the lost connection, even when the physical link is no longer available.
