Huawei H905CSHF is an advanced Combo board that simultaneously supports three optical transmission technologies: GPON, XG-PON, and XGS-PON. This allows a single device to flexibly adapt bandwidth to subscriber requirements — from 2.5 / 1.25 Gb/s (GPON) up to 10 / 10 Gb/s (XGS-PON). It is an ideal solution for operators looking to expand their infrastructure without replacing their entire existing system.

Combo technology – flexibility without compromise

The H905CSHF board supports simultaneous operation in GPON (2.5 / 1.25 Gb/s), XG-PON (10 / 2.5 Gb/s), and XGS-PON (10 / 10 Gb/s) modes. This enables seamless migration between different PON generations without interrupting subscriber services.
With support for a 1:128 split ratio for GPON and a 1:256 split ratio for XG-PON/XGS-PON, a single board can connect up to 1,024 GPON subscribers or 2,048 XG-PON/XGS-PON subscribers.

High optical power and signal stability

Each of the 16 ports is equipped with a Class C+ optical transceiver module, providing:

• Transmit power of up to 7 dBm for GPON and 8 dBm for XG-PON/XGS-PON

• Receive sensitivity of up to -32 dBm for GPON

• Support for single-mode fibre with SC/UPC connectors
  As a result, the board ensures stable long-distance connections, with transmission distances of up to 40 km between the OLT and ONU terminals.

Supported ONU transmission rates and network scalability

The board fully supports ONU terminals operating at the following transmission rates:

• GPON: 2.5 / 1.25 Gb/s (downstream / upstream)

• XG-PON: 10 / 2.5 Gb/s

• XGS-PON: 10 / 10 Gb/s

Support for multiple terminal types makes it possible to simultaneously provide services with different Quality of Service (QoS) levels within a single optical infrastructure.
The use of optical splitters allows the signal to be divided at the following ratios:

• Up to 1:128 for GPON,

• Up to 1:256 for XG-PON and XGS-PON,
  which means that a single port can connect up to 128 or 256 subscribers.

For the entire board, this translates into:

• Up to 1,024 GPON subscribers,

• Up to 2,048 XG-PON / XGS-PON subscribers.

This high level of scalability makes it possible to build efficient PON networks both in densely populated metropolitan areas and in dispersed rural regions.

The Huawei H905CSHF board is supplied with 16 Class C+ optical transceiver modules (OM5270S-D2SW), eliminating the need to purchase the modules separately.
Each transceiver has been optimised for operation with all three PON technologies and offers high optical output power and excellent receiver sensitivity:

• Transmit power (Tx):

  • GPON: 3 to 7 dBm

  • XG-PON / XGS-PON: 5 to 8 dBm

• Receive sensitivity (Rx):

  • GPON: up to -32 dBm

  • XG-PON: up to -30.5 dBm

  • XGS-PON: up to -29 dBm

This high optical output power ensures stable transmission even over long distances and with high signal split ratios, reducing problems caused by excessive optical attenuation and eliminating the need for additional optical amplifiers.
Class C+ transceivers also provide a greater optical power budget margin, helping maintain reliable connections under all network conditions.

Compatibility and reliability

The Huawei H905CSHF board is designed exclusively for use with Huawei MA5800 series OLT platforms and is compatible with the following control boards: MPLA, MPLB, MPLG, MPSA-G, MPCS, MPSG-G, and MPLB-G.
It also supports key networking technologies and functions, including IEEE 1588v2 synchronisation, FEC, CAR, HQoS, and variable-length OMCI. Automatic protection mechanisms safeguard the board against overheating and overload.
