Fiber optic attenuators

Fiber optic attenuators are an essential component in fiber optic systems, serving as passive elements in the optical path. Their role is to control the optical power of the transmitted signal by reducing it. Through this process, which includes both fixed and adjustable attenuators, it is possible to fully adjust the signal cutting parameters.

Installed in the fiber optic system before the detector, attenuators ensure that the optical power remains within the receiver's operating range. The attenuation values for various types of connectors, such as SC, FC, ST, LC, or MU, are precisely defined. Additionally, there are adapter attenuators, where the fiber optic adapter serves as the attenuating element, and "In-line" attenuators, where signal attenuation is achieved through specially made splices.

Adjustable attenuators are also available on the market, such as Variable Optical Attenuators (VOA), which are built into the fiber optic cable. They are characterized by high-quality construction, precision, and adjustability. They find applications in various fields, including telecommunications, CATV, data transmission networks, control and signaling systems, as well as computer and measurement networks.

Fiber optic attenuators offer different levels of attenuation, such as 0dB, 2dB, 3dB, 5dB, or 10dB, and are equipped with LC or SC connectors, allowing for direct connection to SFP modules. They are essential elements in the construction and maintenance of fiber optic networks, enabling control of signal power, minimizing interference, and ensuring efficient data transmission
