The MikroTik cAP ax is a Wi-Fi 6 access point supporting IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/ax in the 2.4 GHz band and IEEE 802.11 a/n/ac/ax in the 5 GHz band. It offers a maximum theoretical wireless network throughput of 1800 Mb/s - 574 Mb/s in the 2.4 GHz band and 1201 Mb/s in the 5 GHz band. The transmission is facilitated by built-in omni-directional antennas with a gain of 5.5 dBi. The device is powered by a high-performance IPQ-6010 processor with four cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. It features 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports (10/100/1000 Mb/s), with the first port serving as PoE input and the second port as PoE Passhtrough output. This allows you to connect another cAP ax using only one Ethernet cable.

The product is primarily designed for use within the CAPsMAN system. CAPsMAN enables the connection of multiple access points within one centralized network to cover very large areas. The cAP ax comes in a wall-mountable enclosure, similar to other devices in the cAP series. It is best suited for large networks used in businesses, restaurants, hotels, or public utility buildings.

The MikroTik cAP ax can transmit wireless networks in both the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands simultaneously. It utilizes the Wi-Fi 6 standard, supporting IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/ax in the 2.4 GHz band and IEEE 802.11 a/n/ac/ax in the 5 GHz band. The access point in both bands employs dual-polarity (2x2 MIMO / dual-chain). The maximum theoretical Wi-Fi throughput is 1800 Mb/s - 574 Mb/s in the 2.4 GHz band and 1201 Mb/s in the 5 GHz band. This speed allows for comfortable internet usage, including downloading large files and streaming high-resolution video content. Wi-Fi 6 also introduces other useful features such as MU-MIMO (simultaneous transmission and reception of data from multiple users), Beamforming (beam shaping to improve range), and WPA3 - the latest data encryption standard.
