KIMWIPES KIMTECH Science 280szt are professional lint-free wipes designed for cleaning optical fibers and fiber optic connectors before the splicing process. Thoroughly cleaning the fiber from contaminants helps reduce attenuation losses in the splice. The package contains 280 wipes.
The speed and quality of transmission in an optical fiber link depend on the quality of connections and their cleanliness. Contamination of the end faces of fiber optic connectors and transceivers often leads to physical damage to the connectors in the contact area on the ferrule surface, as well as interruptions or errors in optical signal transmission. Contaminated fiber optic connectors are responsible for the highest percentage of failures in fiber optic networks.
Preventing failures and interruptions in transmission can be achieved through inspection and cleaning of connectors, leading to significant savings in network maintenance and service costs.
Proper connector cleaning procedure:
Step 1: Check the cleanliness of the fiber optic connector.
Step 2: If the connector is dirty, use the dry cleaning technique.
Step 3: After performing dry cleaning, recheck the connector to ensure no spots were missed. If it remains dirty, repeat the dry cleaning technique.
Step 4: If the connector remains dirty after dry cleaning, use the wet cleaning technique with isopropyl alcohol.
Step 5: Apply the dry cleaning technique again after wet cleaning using a slightly damp, non-linting cloth.
Step 6: Recheck the connector and repeat steps 3 and 4 until the end face surface of the connector is clean.
This process should be performed on both ends of the connector and may be repeated at least twice.
