Simplex patch cords consist of only one fiber optic strand, while duplex patch cords consist of two. Simplex patch cords are typically used in applications where signals are transmitted in only one direction, such as in CCTV networks. Duplex patch cords, with their two fibers, are used for bidirectional communication where signals need to be sent and received simultaneously, making them suitable for most data communication applications
