Category 6 patch cords

Category 6 patch cords are twisted pair cables known for their high throughput and low electromagnetic interference. There are two main types of Category 6 patch cords: Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) and Foiled Twisted Pair (FTP). Each type has its characteristics and applications depending on installation requirements.

Throughput of Category 6 Patch Cords Category 6 patch cords provide a throughput of up to 250 MHz, enabling data transmission speeds of up to 10 Gb/s. This level of throughput is sufficient for most applications in Local Area Networks (LAN).

Shielding in Category 6 Patch Cords Depending on installation requirements, Category 6 patch cords can have different levels of shielding. UTP patch cords lack shielding, making them more susceptible to electromagnetic interference. On the other hand, FTP patch cords have shielding with aluminum foil, providing additional protection against interference. Consequently, they are more reliable and have greater throughput over longer distances.

Applications of Category 6 Patch Cords Category 6 patch cords are ideal for demanding applications such as high-definition video transmission, server virtualization, or cloud computing. They are commonly used in LANs, especially in large enterprises and institutions where high throughput and reliability are required
